City Manager Greer summarized the manager's monthly report for January and recapped progress across the city's five strategic priorities for 2026: arts and culture, public safety, economic development, recreation and parks, and transportation and connectivity. Greer said staff used ground'penetrating radar at Macedonia Cemetery to support preservation efforts and celebrated the city's unity breakfast commemorating Martin Luther King Jr.
Greer told council the contractor received certificate of occupancy for Fire Station 63 and is finishing punch list items while the staff project team has shifted focus to the fire alerting project. On parks, Greer said the boardwalk construction is in the home stretch and preparations are under way for the state of the city address on March 26 and the North Pond events slated for early April. On transportation, staff noted ongoing traffic shifts for Medlock Bridal town center and Abbotts Bridge projects and announced the Vice Road Bridge would close March 9 with a goal to reopen in August to align with the school calendar. "For 2026, you affirmed 5 strategic priorities," Greer said while introducing the report.
