Claymont Board approves retirements, new contracts and staffing slate for 2026–27

The Claymont City Board of Education approved the superintendent's recommendations on personnel and contracts at the May 11 meeting.
The board accepted resignations including Amy Rossi (ELA teacher) — retirement effective May 29, 2026 — and non-renewals in limited contract positions. Trustees approved three-year administrative contracts effective August 1, 2026 for Brian Watkins (Middle School Principal) and Nino Pangrazio (School Psychologist). The board also approved an extensive slate of certified and classified staff contracts for the 2026–2027 school year, summer custodial hires and a summer technology intern pending credentialing.
Other approvals included building handbooks for all schools, a College Credit Plus Memorandum of Understanding with Ashland University and a placement agreement with Western Governors University for student teacher placement. The board also approved a quote for Windows patch management as part of cybersecurity maintenance and a certified job description for a college and career counselor.
Mr. Peters congratulated Amy Rossi on her retirement before the roll call; the motion to approve the superintendent's recommendations passed on a roll call vote recorded in the minutes.
