Superintendent Brian Rentsch presented a strategic-planning option that would close the Intermediate School and relocate grades for the 2026–2027 school year. Under the recommendation, 8th grade would move to the high school, 4th and 5th grades to the middle school, and 3rd grade to the elementary school. Rentsch told the board that "a decision needs to be made by the end of this month for a change to take place for next school year."
The board scheduled a public forum for Monday, March 16 at 6:00 p.m. at the Middle School and a follow-up special meeting on Tuesday, March 31 at 6:00 p.m. at the Administrative Office to answer questions and hear comments from staff and the community. The proposal was discussed during the board's strategic planning item; no formal vote to approve closures was recorded at the March 9 meeting. The district indicated timing is constrained to allow operational changes for the coming school year.
