Commission hears growth figures for Greater Rigby: thousands of potential new parcels

"We have 3,900 subdivision lots in the Greater Rigby area," the staff presentation said, noting the city of Rigby itself contains about 1,900 housing structures and that modeling indicates roughly 10,862 potential parcels if land were divided to minimum lot sizes. Staff summarized that, at current growth rates, the area’s supply equates to roughly nine years of growth.
Commissioners discussed how those modeled figures interact with existing zones and the land-use table. Members pointed out that a zone change can allow a range of uses and that numerical capacity does not automatically translate into built units; water supply, access to sewer and other infrastructure will influence what can actually be developed.
