James described 204 West Washington as a contributing commercial building from the 1920s and presented an aluminum wall sign proposed at roughly 2 feet by 3 feet. James noted the historic district preference for painted wood signs but said the proposed aluminum sign met ordinance depth and size requirements; he recommended approval. The commission opened and closed the public hearing with no speakers and approved the COA by voice vote.
Later in the meeting the commission approved its annual calendar with one schedule change — moving an October meeting to Wednesday, Oct. 15 — and the chair moved to adjourn the commission’s business for the year.
The approvals permit the sign installation per staff recommendations and confirm the commission’s meeting schedule for the coming year.
