Trout Unlimited to plant riparian buffers in Charles Town next week

The Charles Town Tree Board confirmed a volunteer-driven riparian planting next week after Trout Unlimited delivered stakes and tree protectors for Willingham Knowles and Evans Run. Chair Aaron said the planting is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 10–11, weather permitting.
Aaron updated the board that volunteers had already worked at Evitts Run and that roughly 80% of maintenance-side plantings are complete, though weather has complicated work schedules. He said Trout Unlimited would be onsite for a couple of days to assist with planting and protection.
Board members also discussed the need to clear invasive vegetation around previous plantings; Aaron and Carlo have already worked to remove vines and sleeves that have overtaken earlier saplings and the board plans community volunteer days to support aftercare.
