Trustees greenlight Hotel Park concept and allow fundraising while Stilling Basin directives moved to work session

The Park, Recreation & Trails advisory committee presented a multi‑phase concept to renovate and beautify Hotel Park, including a new trail, memorial benches, mass plantings, a retaining wall using stored Manitou Pinkstone, and an access ramp for maintenance. "That's a $2,500 expense, and we have $5,400 of the fundraising already done," presenter Jesse Scribe said, urging trustees to permit incremental fundraising and phased work.
Trustees approved the concept and allowed the committee to fundraise and begin work as funds become available. Separately, Trustee S5 introduced directives intended to set policy and priorities for routine maintenance of the Stilling Basin; trustees and public works staff debated the proper level of specificity, resourcing and reporting. A motion to approve the first directive failed for lack of a second; the board voted to table directives and schedule a work session and site visit (May 15, 6 p.m.) to finalize deliverables, costing and an implementation timeline with public works input.
