The Claymont City School District Board of Education voted April 13 to adopt new daily start and end times for the 2026–27 school year and to shorten the current 2025–26 student calendar.
After a discussion with Transportation and Cafeteria Supervisor Eric Henry about bus routes and after‑school activities, the board approved the 2026–27 schedule: High School 7:40–2:40; Middle School 7:50–2:50; Elementary 8:05–3:05; Primary 8:15–3:15. The motion to approve the instructional time changes was made by Mrs. Host and seconded by Ms. Campbell; the roll call vote was recorded as unanimous among the four members present.
Separately, the board approved a revision to the 2025–26 student calendar to end student attendance on May 22, 2026 (three days earlier than previously scheduled). Mrs. Host made the motion to adopt the calendar change; Mrs. Wolf seconded and the motion carried on roll call.
District administrators said the adjustments are intended to address bussing logistics and align staffing and activity schedules; the board directed staff to implement the new bell times and monitor impacts on transportation and extracurriculars. No formal district‑wide operational changes beyond the bell times and calendar date were approved at the meeting.
