Staff reports Alabama Power's ECR under-recovered by about $11.1 million for June

Electricity Policy Division staff said reprojected ROE for Alabama Power is 6.28% for the 12-month period and that the energy cost recovery (ECR) was under-recovered by approximately $11,100,000 in June 2026.
Patricia Smith of the Electricity Policy Division reported the division's monthly examinations of Alabama Power's books and records and the energy cost review for June. Staff's reprojected return on average retail common equity for the 12 months ending Dec. 31, 2026, was 6.28%.
Smith told the commission "It was determined that rate ECR was under recovered by approximately $11,100,000 in June 2026." The staff presentation included the data sources used for the projection (six months actual and six months budget data) and invited any questions from commissioners.
