City staff presented a revised ordinance amending Unified Development Ordinance Article 7, Part V to add protections and notification requirements for Venus flytraps and to expand the amendment to include pitcher plants and sundews.
City Manager Matthew Kirkland said staff updated the ordinance to reflect the additional plant species requested at the prior meeting. Commissioner Todd Ausborn moved to approve the amendment; Commissioner Kim Sherwood seconded. The board voted 4-0 to adopt the ordinance.
The approved amendment clarifies definitions and submission requirements in Appendix A and Appendix B and becomes part of the city's UDO to guide development reviews affecting listed plant species.
