A borough representative briefed the council on updates to the multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan and said the document will be presented to council for resolution adoption later this month.
The updated plan responds to new FEMA guidance, adds climate-change and future-risk analysis, integrates equity and social-vulnerability considerations for underserved populations, expands public engagement efforts and includes a cyber annex and infrastructure-lifelines actions intended to make projects more grant‑ready for FEMA programs such as BRIC and FMA.
"We finished it... the key changes from the last plan, '21, to this 1," the borough representative said, listing added sections on climate trends, social vulnerability and project-ready mitigation steps tied to federal funding opportunities. Staff offered to answer council questions before the public hearing and to provide the PowerPoint materials submitted to the clerk.
Council was asked to limit questions in the work-session setting but welcomed a longer presentation and the opportunity to review the package before the public hearing and resolution adoption.
