The Lyon County Commission voted Oct. 30 to provide local matching funds to Lyon County Area Transportation (LCAT) totaling $312,379 for the 2027 state fiscal year. Commissioner Chris Bartel moved the funding approval, and Commissioner Doug Peck seconded; the motions carried 3-0.
Shane Brunner, representing LCAT, presented the Certification of Local Funding Sources and requested signature authority for grant submission. Commissioners approved an annual local match of $295,379 for operating and administrative costs and a capital match of $17,000 (not to exceed $20,000) from Capital Outlay 017-00-9007 for the purchase of a ramp-accessible mini-van. The board also approved signing a letter committing $312,379 from the mill levy fund, a sum combining the two amounts.
"Motion: To Approve the annual Local Matching Funds for 2026/2027 for Lyon County Area Transportation in the amount of $295,379.00 for Operating and Administrative funding," the minutes record as the board action. Commissioners said the approvals would allow LCAT to complete its grant submission and move forward on the van purchase and 2027 operating support. No dissenting votes were recorded.
