Town reports nearly $150,000 dispersed from Rare Grama grant; pitch competitions to award additional funds

The town's marketing supervisor updated the council on spending from a Rare Grama grant that supports small businesses on Main Street. She said $122,451.39 has been disbursed, $27,289.87 has been approved awaiting distribution, bringing the total distributed/approved to $149,741.26 to date, and that remaining funds available under the program total $284,704.09.
She described winners from the prior pitch competition and said the next adult pitch competition will be held Sept. 18 with $30,000 in awards (first place $15,000, second $10,000, third $5,000). She also said the town received a $5,000 CHFA grant to hold a youth pitch competition (19 and under) with prizes of $2,500, $1,500 and $1,000 for top finishers.
The supervisor encouraged local businesses to apply and said several shops have already received funds that enabled service or equipment upgrades—one local shop purchased calibration equipment to service smart windshields locally rather than sending vehicles to Meeker. No additional town appropriation was requested at the meeting.
