San Miguel commissioners add Mountain Village as "qualified owner" in affordable-housing code

Planning Director Kay Simonson presented a land-use code amendment to modify the definition of "qualified owner" in Section 5-13-05 so the Town of Mountain Village is eligible to be certified by the housing authority as an owner of affordable housing units in the Telluride R-1 school district. Simonson said the change was initiated after a work session between the town and the BOCC and that the Planning Commission recommended adoption at its June 11 meeting.
"So we'd be changing 5 13 o 5 b definitions, specifically adding, the town of Mountain Village to the qualified owners," Simonson told the board. The BOCC opened the public hearing, received no comments from attendees or Zoom participants, and voted to adopt Resolution 2026-30. Commissioners said the amendment was a housekeeping measure to reflect the town's recent development plans and to encourage ongoing regional housing collaboration.
