Council directs staff to hold public input on Route 51 options by Feb. 14

Council members directed staff to set up an initial public-input session on the Route 51 intersection project — preferably at the Wright Denny auditorium — and to hold that meeting by no later than Feb. 14. The sessions are intended to gather neighborhood concerns, document public feedback and prepare a deliverable to forward to WVDOH.
Councilors said they want multiple stakeholders at the table, including residents, railroad and development representatives, and emphasized that the city should compile local input in addition to the environmental/public-comment work done by the state. Staff said the session will present the options provided by WVDOH and solicit public feedback for a documented follow-up to the state.
