Don Morris, a Cheyenne resident, told the Historic Preservation Board he lives behind Deming Elementary and wants to know what would happen if the building were sold and changed or torn down.
"My name is Don Morris. I've been a Cheyenne resident since 1972, and I live, 717 Frontier Park Avenue, which is right behind the Deming Elementary School, which is up for sale," Morris said, asking whether the board would have any role should a buyer seek demolition or modification. Staff replied that the Historic Preservation Board would become involved if a demolition procedure were initiated. A board member also noted property owners within 300 feet of a zone change must be notified, so Morris should receive formal notice if a zone‑change application is filed.
The board provided procedural guidance rather than a decision: if a purchaser seeks to demolish Deming Elementary, the board would review any historic‑preservation implications as part of the permitting process. No formal action or motion was taken during the comment period.
