The Sesser‑Valier Community Unit School District No. 196 Board of Education on Dec. 9 adopted four tax‑levy resolutions for tax year 2024 and authorized the superintendent to adjust individual fund levies so long as the aggregate levy approved by the board is not exceeded. The action was part of a consent agenda motion that passed by roll call, 7–0.
Superintendent J. Henry told the board that, after adoption this evening, the necessary levy documents will be filed in Franklin and Jefferson Counties on or before the statutory filing deadline (the last Tuesday in December; Dec. 31, 2024). The resolutions approved included levies for tort immunity, special education, and a levy covering fire prevention/safety, energy conservation, disabled accessibility, school security and specified repair purposes. The board granted the superintendent limited authority to reallocate between funds as needed while preserving the board‑approved aggregate levy.
