Committee: only one eligible MBE found for sheriff's auto-body project; no MWBE goal set
Summary

The MWBE Goal Setting Committee added the sheriff's department auto parts/auto body project to the agenda as Project 5A and received an update from Glenda Pearson of the EOC office.
"As administrator Wilburn stated, there were no MWBE participation. I've gone through all of the commodity codes, and I was only able to find 1 MBE that could do auto body collision repair," Pearson said, reporting that only one vendor could be identified. Committee members noted the expectation that Shelby County should have more eligible firms and discussed continued vendor outreach.
Because EOC found only a single eligible MBE—below the three-MWBE threshold needed to set a contract goal—the committee recorded the item as an update with no formal MWBE goal and moved on to other agenda items. Chair said the staff would continue outreach to recruit additional minority- and women-owned vendors.
