Bensenville amends zoning to permit parking garages and set design criteria

The Village Board on July 29 approved a zoning text amendment to allow parking garages as permitted accessory structures in selected residential and commercial districts and to add minimum design criteria. Staff described the package as "housekeeping" intended to prepare for future redevelopment opportunities and noted the Community Development Commission had held a public hearing and recommended approval.
Walter, the staff presenter, said the amendment "establishes parking garages as a permitted accessory structure in certain residential, and commercial districts and it establishes minimum design criteria for these structures." The ordinance passed on a roll-call vote with six trustees in favor.
