Loma Prieta schools honor longtime volunteers at year-end meeting

The district honored several parents and community volunteers at the June board meeting, presenting awards for sustained service to Loma Prieta Elementary and CT Middle School.
Presenter (speaker 4) announced Jennifer Kramer as the district parent volunteer of the year, citing her work in Project Cornerstone, serving as secretary for the CT Home and School Club, helping organize the holiday craft fair and creating the 8th‑grade graduation slideshow. "Jennifer's kindness, reliability, and dedication have made a lasting impact on our school community," the presenter said.
Members of CT Home and School Club and other parents added brief tributes. A CT Home and School Club speaker (speaker 6) described Kramer as "a ray of sunshine" who "brings enthusiasm, humor, and a can‑do attitude" to the organization. The board and audience offered applause and thanks.
The board also recognized Carly Van Lewen for her long service as the Loma Prieta Garden coordinator, with a Home & School Club representative (speaker 12) noting that Carly had been volunteering in the garden since about 2017 and would be passing the coordinator torch this year. In addition, the Loma Public Education Fund honored Lauren Gallagher and Blythe Strachan for work on communications, fundraising and leadership; the fund reported a successful "Keep" campaign and corporate matching that helped expand program support.
The board thanked all volunteers and noted that while formal recognition is a single moment, the district relies on volunteers year‑round for events such as grad night, staff appreciation and the jog‑a‑thon.
