Board reviews midyear assessment data; staff outline intervention plans

Staff explained that DIBELS (K—5) and MCAS (math benchmark) and iReady (middle school) results show substantial kindergarten growth and improvements in several grade bands, while some later grades are still focusing on comprehension skill development. The presenters said about 35–40 students receive targeted reading intervention and that math intervention groups operate after school for grades 3—8.
Trustees asked about intervention capacity at CT middle school and ways to schedule reading intervention without displacing other classes. Staff said small-group and after-school interventions are in place and that they are exploring master-schedule solutions to add intervention time. The board discussed future measurement for science and plans to monitor end-of-year results.
