Loma Prieta students honored for national AMC 8 math performance

She named students who achieved national recognition: several in the top 25% and one, Zimo Tang, scoring in the top 5% nationally. Rowland said the event expanded access for mountain‑area students who previously had to travel offsite.
Students were called forward to receive medals and certificates from the board and staff. Teachers and trustees praised the students' willingness to take on extra challenge work outside regular instruction time, and leaders suggested schools might build on the competition with future math enrichment opportunities.
