Caitley and Aurora, teens who spoke at the meeting, described the teen center as a place to make friends across middle and high school and to find a quiet spot to do homework. Caitley said the center makes it easier to connect with others if students “have trouble talking to people in school,” and called the center “a safe place” that helps her feel less stressed.
Ari, another teen who addressed the board, said friends recommended the center and that it helps relieve school-related stress; Ari described crafts such as making bracelets and said, “I mostly make bracelets there.” The trustees thanked the youth for speaking and praised their participation.
