Board approves conveyance to expand Newside Cemetery to protect veterans' burials
Summary
The board approved a subdivision that conveys roughly 0.1903 acres to expand the Newside Cemetery so burial remains are contained to the cemetery; the 4 Seasons condominium lot will be reduced to 3.75 acres as a result.
The board approved a preliminary/final subdivision plan to convey a small parcel from the 4 Seasons condominium development to the Newside Cemetery. Staff said the conveyance will expand the cemetery from about 0.0609 acres to approximately 0.2512 acres and reduce the condominium lot size to about 3.75 acres; no physical improvements are proposed.
Mister Garrett explained the purpose is to ensure the remains of soldiers buried in the area are contained within the cemetery. There was no public comment on the item and the board approved the plan by voice vote.
