Alan McCormick said he was ‘‘quite impressed’’ with Little’s interview but argued the process was not as transparent as advertised, saying some applicants were not given an ‘‘up-or-down vote’’ after interviews. McCormick also relayed a claim that another supervisor had said ‘‘I will only vote for a Democrat,’’ which he said affected the fairness of the selection. Chairman Campbell responded during public comment that McCormick’s characterization ‘‘was not a requirement.’'
The board did not take formal further action on the appointment at this meeting; a number of residents urged the board to adopt a written procedure for future interim appointments to increase transparency.
