Library to reduce weekend full-time staffing, add part-time support

"We, instead, are now dropping to 1 full time person and 2 part time people that will be manning the building on weekends," the director said, noting contingency steps including giving keys and codes to part-time staff and maintaining a phone tree to summon backups if the full-time employee calls in sick.
Staff emphasized Sundays present a particular challenge because some part-time shelvers arrive earlier than desk staff; the director said the change will take effect the week after Memorial Day and that staff are building contingencies to ensure openings and access.
No board vote was required for the operational staffing adjustment; trustees thanked staff for exploring options and asked the director to update them if problems arise after implementation.
