District projects largely flat K–8 enrollment for 2026–27, staff say

The principal presented the district’s enrollment projections for 2026–27, saying opening-day enrollment looks to be about 409 students and that shifts between sites have largely balanced district totals. “We’re in a really good spot this year,” the principal said.
The presentation showed kindergarten through eighth-grade counts back to 2018 and noted that while overall enrollment has dipped since 2018, Loma and CT have offset one another in recent years. Board members asked about Lakeside transfer students; staff explained the district receives per-student payments for Lakeside students and that those transfers do not materially reduce district revenue for pupils who enroll here for three years.
Board members pressed for ongoing monitoring of class sizes and possible combo classes. Staff said there are currently two teachers at each grade level at Loma, no combo classes, and several planned job-share arrangements in kindergarten and other grades to maintain stable class coverage.
