County outlines multi-million-dollar repairs for jail doors, escalators and elevators

Sheriff's office leaders and maintenance staff also described end-of-life stainless-steel toilet fixtures, persistent leaks throughout a building opened in 1981, and elevator modernization work that will require full replacement of lights, HVAC and control panels to meet code. Officials said many of the repairs have taken longer than expected and that the full maintenance program will unfold over roughly two years.
