The council paused to recognize two community contributions. Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem Bucknam presented Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club with a trophy after naming the club a recipient of the California Golf Course Owners Association Golf Course of the Year for 2024; club representatives accepted brief remarks and a group photo followed.
The council also recognized Crime Prevention Specialist Lisa Lebron Flores, the Mission Viejo Police Services nominee for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Professional Staff Employee of the Year. Captain Jason Ivins detailed Flores’s 13 years with the department, listing event-planning roles such as National Night Out and public-outreach work, and described Flores as a bilingual public counter resource who helps make services accessible. “Lisa...was selected from over 2,000 well qualified personnel in the sheriff's department,” Captain Ivins said.
Councilmembers and staff congratulated both recipients and took photos; the recognitions were part of the meeting’s opening presentations.
