Multiple public commenters raised infrastructure concerns and urged more visible enforcement of city maintenance.
Manning Rellerson told the council that ditches are city infrastructure and said the city should maintain them rather than asking property owners to do the work. He also announced his intent to sue the Port of Freeport, saying he would seek $5,000,000 and invite East End property owners to join a class action over what he described as an "illegal" land grab.
Other commenters and council members discussed timing for planned off-street parking work connected to 2nd Street milling and overlay work. Councilman Davis and staff said the city is coordinating milling placement to create a new parking area and that road-grinding work by the county would reach Freeport in about a month.
