Trustees approve ordinance raising water and sewer rates starting Aug. 1, 2026

Trustee Johnson introduced Ordinance No. 2186 to amend Title 3, Chapter 3 of the village municipal code to adjust water and sewer rates beginning Aug. 1, 2026. Reading the ordinance text aloud, the presenter stated: "Each customer receiving water service in the village of Midlothian shall be charged $11.54 per 1,000 gallons of water consumed," and described the sewer change as a $9 monthly base charge plus $3 per 1,000 gallons of usage.
After brief discussion the board called the question and recorded aye votes. The roll call recorded aye votes by Trustee Johnson, Trustee Burbank, Trustee Hilliard and Trustee Jones; the mayor announced the motion carries and the ordinance was adopted. The ordinance text sets the new rates to take effect on 08/01/2026.
