Board told ADA route, Metra approvals and November bid target for station project

During questions about accessibility and schedule, engineer David Plater said the project will include an accessible route from the parking lot to the platform required under ADA when an existing stair is modified. "So the idea there is that part is compliant with ADA," Plater said, describing a ramped connection at the top of the stairs and a separate parking-lot route for wheelchair users.
Plater also outlined approvals and the procurement timeline: Metra has approved the work in its right of way, an IDNR permit was recently obtained, and IDOT will manage the federal grant and state letting process so the state enters the construction contract. He told trustees the project is "on track to bid it in November of this year" and that construction should follow next year, contingent on final lighting approvals.
