The Village of Midlothian heard a presentation from engineer David Plater on a planned access improvement project at the Midlothian Metra station. Plater said the project will add a 6-foot sidewalk through the rain garden to Pulaski Road, connect to the existing platform, and use lighter permeable pavers near Pulaski to improve aesthetics and manage stormwater. "So I'm gonna try to make this quick. I don't wanna over complicate this project," Plater said as he opened the briefing, then walked trustees through plan sheets and photographs intended to show how the path will relate to an existing bench and surrounding features.
Plater described material choices and lighting, saying the design will use tan pavers bordered with a black soldier-course to blend with the south parking-lot materials and that most of the cost relates to paver materials. He also noted four permits are required and that Metra has approved the work within its right of way. The mayor and trustees reviewed the plan visuals and asked clarifying questions about alignment and finishes; Plater pointed to bench locations in photos to explain the route and the decision to avoid conflicts with site features.
