Northern Basketball League asks board for gym access after rental dispute

During public comment, Paul Padilla described his work reviving the Northern Basketball League (formerly Taos Adult Basketball League) and asked Taos Municipal Schools for help obtaining gym space for the upcoming season.
"I was truly honored that [Jojo] trusted me to continue in his footsteps...this basketball league has been a part of Taos for more than 50 years," Padilla said, introducing himself and outlining the league's community role. He explained that a player's dunk loosened a rim mounting bracket during a recent season, after which the district told the league it could no longer use the middle-school gym and the league had to cancel remaining games and absorb extra costs.
Padilla said his group formed an LLC, secured insurance, and respects school property; he asked the board to partner with the Northern Basketball League to secure school-gym use beginning in November so adult players can continue to participate in a supervised, insured environment. President Flores invited Padilla to leave contact information with the executive secretary so the superintendent can follow up.
