Board extends Jaramillo auditing contract for one year at $97,050

The board voted Aug. 5 to extend the contract with Jaramillo Auditing Group (JAG) for one year at a cost of $97,050.
Dr. Rainier Martins, director of finance, and the audit committee recommended retaining JAG for a final year because the firm is familiar with the district's recent forensic audits and internal systems. Martins said the district implemented a new financial system this fiscal year and the audit firm's institutional knowledge would aid closing prior audit findings.
Board members approved the one-year extension and noted that an RFP will be required next year. "I recommended the continuation of JAG," Martins said, adding that the finance team expects to use new modules, such as a warehouse module, to address audit findings during the coming fiscal year.
