Nathan told the committee the district expects to finish 2025–26 with a food-service fund (Fund 50) shortfall projected between $450,000 and $500,000 and that the remaining Fund 50 balance (~$470,000) will likely be used. "I'm projecting, you know, somewhere between a 450 and a $500,000 loss," Nathan said.
To cover the gap, Nathan proposed transferring $450,000 from Fund 10 to Fund 50. He emphasized these are unaudited projections and that staff will return with final numbers; the district will also go through a bidding process for 2027–28 food-service procurement after DPI advised some districts to adopt fixed-price contracts based on prior material differences between projected and actual deficits.
