Resident urges financial accountability for Mission Viejo corridor studies

Tom Moore, a Mission Viejo resident, told the commission he had previously raised concerns at the July 8 city council meeting and asked the commission to support preparing “a complete financial accountability report for the work performed to date” on corridor planning efforts.
Moore said the Urban Land Institute work appears to have been used as a benchmark in later planning efforts but that the city did not resolve issues identified in the earlier ULI study before moving forward with public participation in 2016. A commissioner asked staff to check whether such an accountability report already exists and to coordinate with the city manager; staff replied the same comment had been made to the city council and that the information can also be requested through a public records request to the city clerk or community relations department.
