Benicia Performing Arts Foundation to host 'Jazz O'Clock' at the Clock Tower with professionals and student opening act

Bob Jocelyn, a long-time Benicia resident and board member of the Benicia Performing Arts Foundation, told commissioners about an upcoming 'Jazz O'Clock' concert series at the Clock Tower. He said the foundation secured Bruce Foreman — a nationally known jazz guitarist — as the headliner and intends to feature the Benicia High School jazz band as an opener to give students the opportunity to perform with professional musicians.
"We were able to hire a friend of mine... Bruce Foreman. He's gonna be the lead on this project," Jocelyn said, and added that the foundation is arranging staging, lighting and seating to make the show "classy" and family friendly. Director Dunleavy and commissioners said the city will promote the event on the City of Benicia website and encouraged residents to picnic and attend.
Commissioners praised the collaboration between the foundation and city staff and noted that holding such events on an off-night (Monday) helps lower artist fees while opening the facility for community uses. The foundation emphasized youth involvement as a core goal of the program and said ticketing and event logistics will be posted by the city.
