Board probes streetlight GFIs, downtown planter soil issue and Christmas decorations after beautification closeout

A board member summarized the wiring expectation, saying, “When you have an exterior outlet like that, GFI's are required, but it should still be in a watertight box.” Members said some watertight boxes and the decorations themselves were not sealed and that the GFI placement requires a bucket truck to reset when it trips. Staff said they had reached out to the contractor (Peregrine) and IDOT as part of the closeout process and that credits for wrong planter soil and some pump-out plant issues are being processed; the landscaper and IDOT are negotiating a credit for planter dirt.
