DeSoto supervisors approve increased Waste Pro rates and extra recycling pickups at three sites

The Board approved Waste Pro annual rate adjustments (Starlanding to $2.89; Sandidge Road residential to $2.85 and commercial to $8.71) effective Oct. 1, 2026, and authorized additional weekly pickup days and new pictorial signage at three recycling drop‑off locations.
Environmental Services Specialist Brynn McCarver told the Board that three recycling drop‑off sites are accumulating unacceptable levels of mixed, nonrecyclable material and requested additional service days and pictorial signage to clarify acceptable items; the Board approved the changes and asked pickups be moved earlier in the week.
McCarver also reported Waste Pro's annual price adjustments: "the Starlanding Rubbish Pit Annual Price adjustment from Waste Pro will increase from $2.81 to $2.89, effective October 1, 2026," and Sandidge Road residential will move from $2.78 to $2.85 and commercial from $8.50 to $8.71. The Board approved both increases and authorized staff to implement new signage at the targeted drop‑off locations.
