Brooks County's Commissioners approved several financial items on Feb. 25, including reimbursement to the Falfurrias Volunteer Fire Department and an increase in the county's indigent funeral payment.
Judge Ramos said the $12,863 was spent on attorney fees and election costs related to creating an Emergency Service District; the court approved reimbursing the Falfurrias Volunteer Fire Department with the expectation the ESD will repay the county when it receives revenues. The court also approved Invoice #003765 to Trevino Electric for $216.50 for tower repairs and Invoice #INV005347 to HART Intercivic for $394.
Indigent Director Phillip Morones told the court that the county currently pays $450 per indigent funeral, which covers eight slots and is currently helping two cases; the court approved increasing the payment to $1,000 and discussed whether Fund 31 could cover the increase. The motion to raise the indigent funeral payment to $1,000 was moved by Commissioner Aaron Trevino, seconded by Commissioner Nora Salinas and passed unanimously.
Provenance: financial motions and discussion recorded in SEG 003 and SEG 004.
