Brooks County Commissioners on Feb. 25 approved staggered terms for members of Brooks County Emergency District No.1 after first passing one set of terms, then rescinding and adopting a revised schedule.
Ruben Ramirez spoke to the court about setting terms for the district commissioners. The court initially approved four-year terms for Benny Cantu, Roy Trevino and Arnold Mireles and two-year terms for Diana Deleon and JB Perez. Later in the meeting the court rescinded that approval, adjusted terms (JB Perez and Diana Deleon to one year; Roy Trevino, Arnold Mireles and Benny Cantu to two years) and approved the revised assignments. The final motion to approve the revised schedule was moved by Commissioner Eduardo "Eddie" Garza, seconded by Commissioner Rolando Gutierrez and passed unanimously.
