At the May 20 meeting, Community Services Supervisor Melanie McGrann said Mission Viejo’s Dial‑a‑Taxi program — which serves residents age 60 and older — has been growing and is supported in part by Measure M2 grant funding. McGrann said the program now has more than 3,000 registered participants and that "the fact that we are now at almost 10,000 rides used by our participants shows you the extreme value of this program."
McGrann described service coverage (free trips to any city facility and $5 one‑way transportation to nearby cities; John Wayne Airport trips for $20 each way) and attributed growth to recent marketing work including mailer inserts and MVTV outreach paid for with grant funding. She encouraged residents to view the program video on the city’s YouTube page for a usage refresher. Commissioners praised the outreach and noted the program’s value for residents with mobility challenges.
