Assembly continues CASA advisory board hearings after residents seek stronger local representation

Road‑service area leaders and community council members urged that the advisory board include local residents with firsthand experience of access and maintenance burdens and that any board provide clear cost estimates for maintenance impacts.
Roger Marks, speaking for a Glen Alps road‑service area group, said the board should balance neighborhood needs with broader park access goals and suggested annual open hearings and systematic consultation with road‑service areas. Nancy Pease, on behalf of Rabbit Creek Community Council, urged that the majority of board members demonstrate recent, direct experience with Chugach access and called for guaranteed communication between CASA staff and affected community councils within a 60‑day notice period for candidate projects. After hearing testimony the assembly voted to continue public hearings and schedule a work session; sponsors said they will circulate proposed amendments in advance of the Oct. 6 continuation.
