He also described a public records act request that consumed staff hours and emphasized the limited staff time available: "I only spend 30 hours a month," he said, noting trade-offs for other tasks. The GM said he reworked the project schedule based on board input and will post an updated timeline.
On costs, the general manager told attendees that staff-construction estimates they have seen are "right around $45,000,000" and said he has not seen estimates above $53,000,000; he framed the approved Option B work as necessary to create a project description that will let the district pursue state and federal grants and approach elected officials for support. He also invited residents to a public 'coffee with the director' on Oct. 17 to continue less formal conversations.
