Health department reports staffing changes, interns and new walk-in clinics; TPP grant keeps nurse full time through 2027

Anne-Marie Coy outlined staffing updates April 14: Pete Morrissette and Desi Newinski will take the DNR private water program test to be able to run private water programs; Coy said she will take the test in May. Coy said there will be at least two beach interns in Environmental Health this summer, with a hope to add a half-time intern. She also said a budgeted one-day-per-week front-office position remains unfilled and will be covered by a summer intern.
Coy noted that Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) grant funding will allow Laura Lear, a public-health nurse, to maintain full-time hours through the next grant period, which ends June 30, 2027. She also reported that walk-in Wednesday clinics have started as a partnership with Human Services and a new Forestry Department partnership has begun.
