Council presses staff for audit schedule and notes Day of Service participation

A council member asked staff to provide a firm schedule for the annual audit and emphasized the need to complete and present the audit before the end of the year. "We're 2.5 months in. We have 3.5 months remaining for us to get it done, reviewed, and then proper for us for acceptance," one councilor said, urging staff to accelerate the process.
Staff replied that the city’s auditor typically requires four to six weeks after receiving complete financial data and that the start was delayed because necessary tax information from the state had not yet arrived. The city’s consultant is on the schedule and staff said they would follow up immediately; the council asked staff to return with dates so members could track progress. Separately, staff reminded the council that the Day of Service on Sept. 11 had fewer sign-ups than last year and encouraged volunteers to sign up via the city website.
