VFW leaders ask Malor council to support countywide 'Veterans Park' near new playground

Council members and presenters discussed possible locations near the new playground and the old ballpark footprint; Long asked staff to confirm how much space will remain after the playground build and any planned parking expansion. The presenters also proposed adding a static military display—a sealed Humvee was suggested as lower-cost and safer than larger armored vehicles—and said the National Guard might assist with procurement and restoration.
The presentation emphasized making the park an educational site with interpretive walls and donor recognitions so the project can attract grants and broader county support. The presenters asked the council to connect them with staff to confirm site footprints and permitting steps; council members said staff would review options and noted no formal vote was required at this time.
