ODOT closes Route 73 bridge; Third Street repaving set for Tuesday

Village Manager/Chief Gary Copeland told Council that ODOT closed the bridge on Route 73 on Aug. 8 and, after many calls, installed a temporary stoplight. He said the temporary signal will remain in place through the Sauerkraut Festival and the Village hopes to have one lane restored before the event. Cox Paving is scheduled to perform full-depth repairs to select areas and then repave Third Street on Tuesday.
Copeland said the Police Department did not direct traffic at the closure because ODOT owns the project and the Village lacked the manpower with only one officer on duty. He also noted the Water Department is rebuilding and repairing several fire hydrants around town and the Street Department has been repairing potholes in advance of the paving work.
