Board commits to 60-day updates on probe; member proposes annual inspector-general review

Board members asked for and received a commitment to ongoing public updates as the independent investigation proceeds. The board said it would receive updates every 60 days and would act immediately on any investigative findings that required urgent attention.
"We committed to, updates every 60 days with hopefully actionable items coming out of each of those closed session meetings with the investigators," said Allison Spillman, the at-large representative, describing the frequency and purpose of the updates.
During discussion, a member said she would propose contracting for an independent inspector-general type role to provide annual audits and system-level feedback beyond the immediate investigation. That proposal was offered as a future action item and not part of the current motion.
Members emphasized that the outside investigation does not replace work already under way in the division to improve safety and that the goal is to find systemic fixes so similar concerns are identified earlier in the process.
